Iguazú Wildlife

When you go to Iguazú, remember that you are in a jungle and that there is wildlife teeming all around you. While the Falls are absolutely breathtaking, be sure to look around for some of the park's wildlife. The best time to spot wildlife is usually in the late afternoon, when the crowds begin to thin out at the park and the jungle's numerous birds and mammals are at their most active.

The first wildlife you encounter at Iguazú will most likely be butterflies. There are butterflies of every size and every color, everywhere. Chances are they will be attracted to your clothing and will land on you at every possible moment.

And Even More Butterflies

A number of birds like to nest and feed close to the Falls.

Not all animals are friendly. If you are lucky, you might encounter a coati, sometimes referred to as a Brazilian aardvark. Coatis are very similar to North American raccoons. This one was picking over the garbage.
